Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated System Administrator / Network Engineer to manage and support our IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with both system administration and networking, including configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting servers and network equipment. This role is essential in ensuring the reliability and security of our IT systems and networks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux servers, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Administer and manage Active Directory, including user and group management, permissions, and policies.
- Monitor and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system and network issues, providing timely support to internal teams.
- Perform regular backups and ensure disaster recovery procedures are in place and tested.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to design and implement system upgrades, network changes, and optimizations.
- Assist with the implementation of IT projects and support end-users with technical queries.
Qualifications:
- Training or degree in IT Systems, Network Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience with Windows and Linux server administration and network protocols.
- Familiarity with Active Directory and system management tools.
- Strong knowledge of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, and switching.
- Experience with security protocols, firewalls, VPNs, and network monitoring tools.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, MCSA, or similar are highly desirable.
- German language proficiency (B1–B2) required for effective communication with local teams and support of German-speaking stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English; German proficiency is important for team collaboration and client-facing roles.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with cloud-based infrastructure (AWS, Azure, etc.).
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Experience with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., Nagios, SolarWinds).
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automation tasks.
