Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Restaurant Specialist (Restaurantfachmann/-frau) to join our front-of-house team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, managing dining room operations, and ensuring a high standard of food and beverage service. The ideal candidate will have completed an Ausbildung in restaurant or hospitality service, possess strong communication and customer service skills, and have a professional appearance and stress resilience. German language proficiency (B2 level) is required to ensure smooth communication with customers and the team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and seat guests in a warm and welcoming manner, ensuring they feel comfortable and valued.
- Provide detailed information about the menu, answer questions, and make recommendations based on customer preferences.
- Take customer orders for food and beverages, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Serve food and beverages efficiently, adhering to food and beverage service protocols.
- Ensure that guests’ needs are met promptly throughout their meal, including refilling drinks, offering condiments, and ensuring satisfaction.
- Handle customer complaints or concerns professionally and efficiently, ensuring a positive dining experience.
- Monitor the dining room to ensure it is clean, organized, and properly set up before and after service.
- Coordinate with the kitchen and bar staff to ensure the timely delivery of orders and smooth service during peak times.
- Maintain a professional and positive attitude, even in high-stress situations, to provide a calm and efficient dining experience.
- Manage guest payments, including handling cash, credit cards, or vouchers, and provide receipts as needed.
- Assist in training new staff and support team members during busy service periods.
- Help with inventory management and stock control of food and beverage items when required.
- Uphold high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the restaurant, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Qualifications:
- Completed Ausbildung in restaurant or hospitality service.
- Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to interact with diverse clientele in a professional and friendly manner.
- Knowledge of food and beverage service protocols, including etiquette, presentation, and order-taking procedures.
- German language proficiency (B2 level) required for effective communication with guests and team members.
- Professional appearance and demeanor, maintaining a high standard of personal hygiene and dress code.
- Stress resilience, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently during peak service times.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure, ensuring excellent service even in high-stress situations.
- Team-oriented with a collaborative spirit, but also able to work independently when required.
- Attention to detail, especially in ensuring that guests’ orders are accurate and that they receive the best possible dining experience.
Nice to Have:
- Previous experience in a fine-dining or upscale restaurant setting.
- Knowledge of wine pairings or cocktail preparation.
- Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems and cash handling.
- Additional training in customer service, hospitality, or food safety.
- Multilingual abilities, especially in English or other languages spoken by international guests.
