Medical Laboratory Technician (Laborant/in)

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician (Laborant/in) to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing laboratory tests and analyses on patient samples to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. The ideal candidate will have completed training as a Biologie-/Chemielaborant/in, experience with laboratory equipment and safety protocols, and proficiency in German (B1-B2 level). Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests on blood, urine, and other biological samples, ensuring accurate and timely results.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microscopes, centrifuges, and diagnostic machines.
  • Prepare samples and reagents, ensuring that all materials are correctly labeled and stored.
  • Ensure adherence to laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
  • Perform quality control checks on laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure they function correctly.
  • Document test results and ensure proper recording in laboratory information systems (LIS).
  • Assist in the preparation of laboratory reports and communicate results to medical staff or other healthcare professionals.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all testing procedures and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with doctors, technicians, and other healthcare professionals to discuss and interpret test results.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with lab equipment and assist in the calibration of instruments.
  • Ensure that laboratory supplies are properly stocked, and assist in inventory management.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure all data is handled in compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR).
Qualifications:
  • Completed training as a Biologie-/Chemielaborant/in (Biology or Chemistry Laboratory Technician).
  • Experience with laboratory equipment (e.g., microscopes, analyzers, centrifuges) and safety protocols.
  • German language proficiency (B1-B2 level) is required for effective communication within the team and with other healthcare professionals.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate and reliable test results.
  • Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot equipment or procedural issues.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety standards and the ability to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Nice to Have:
  • Experience with specialized laboratory tests or in fields like microbiology, hematology, or clinical chemistry.
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) or laboratory management software.
  • Certification or continuing education in medical laboratory science.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO standards, GMP, or GLP).
