Job Overview:
We are looking for a passionate and skilled Chef / Cook (Koch/Köchin) to join our kitchen team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality dishes in an à la carte and/or buffet setting, ensuring that every meal meets our standards for taste, presentation, and hygiene. The ideal candidate will have completed vocational training as a chef, knowledge of hygiene standards (HACCP), and experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Creativity, excellent time management, and the ability to work well within a team are essential qualities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook meals in accordance with the menu, ensuring all ingredients are fresh and dishes are prepared to the highest standards.
- Follow recipes and presentation standards to create attractive and flavorful dishes, whether for à la carte or buffet service.
- Ensure that all food preparation is done in compliance with hygiene and food safety standards (HACCP).
- Manage inventory and assist with ordering kitchen supplies, ensuring that all ingredients are stocked and stored properly.
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment, handling multiple orders simultaneously without compromising quality.
- Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service during busy periods, maintaining a smooth workflow.
- Keep the kitchen clean and organized, following cleaning protocols and maintaining equipment in good working condition.
- Assist with menu planning and development, offering creative ideas for new dishes and improving existing ones.
- Monitor food quality and portion sizes, ensuring consistency and high-quality standards in every dish.
- Handle food storage and waste management to minimize waste and optimize kitchen operations.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe working environment for the kitchen team.
- Work closely with waitstaff and other team members to ensure smooth communication and exceptional customer service.
Qualifications:
- Completed vocational training (Ausbildung) as a chef, with a strong foundation in culinary techniques.
- Knowledge of hygiene standards and food safety regulations (HACCP) is essential.
- Experience in à la carte and/or buffet service in a professional kitchen environment.
- German language proficiency (B1-B2) required for effective communication with team members and customers.
- Strong creativity and passion for cooking, with a keen interest in experimenting with new flavors and dishes.
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently under pressure.
- Team spirit and the ability to collaborate effectively with other kitchen staff, waitstaff, and management.
- Attention to detail in food preparation, plating, and presentation.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude and calm demeanor in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
