Job Overview:
We are looking for an energetic and personable Barista / Bartender to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and serving beverages, including coffee, cocktails, and other specialty drinks, to a diverse group of guests. The ideal candidate will have experience in beverage preparation, knowledge of coffee machines and cocktail mixing, and a friendly, customer-oriented attitude. German language proficiency (B1–B2 level) is required for effective communication with guests and the team, and flexibility to work evenings and weekends is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, including coffee, espresso-based drinks, cocktails, mocktails, and other specialty drinks.
- Operate coffee machines, blenders, cocktail shakers, and other beverage-making equipment with proficiency.
- Take customer orders, offering recommendations and ensuring that each guest’s order is prepared to their specifications.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including cleaning coffee machines, cocktail tools, and glassware regularly.
- Handle cash transactions, process payments, and provide guests with accurate receipts.
- Deliver excellent customer service, maintaining a friendly, approachable demeanor at all times.
- Ensure compliance with all hygiene and safety standards, including proper food and beverage handling.
- Prepare and serve snacks or light food items, if applicable.
- Assist with restocking inventory and ensuring that all supplies (e.g., coffee beans, liquor, garnishes) are available for smooth operations.
- Assist with opening and closing the bar or coffee station, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently.
- Work with the team to ensure smooth service during peak hours and events.
- Maintain knowledge of menu items, specials, and promotions, ensuring that customers are informed about the offerings.
- Handle customer feedback or complaints with professionalism and resolve issues in a positive manner.
Qualifications:
- Experience in beverage preparation, including working with coffee machines or cocktail mixing.
- German language proficiency (B1–B2 level) for effective communication with guests and colleagues.
- Friendly, approachable demeanor with a passion for providing excellent customer service.
- Ability to multitask and stay organized during busy service periods.
- Flexibility to work evening shifts, weekends, and possibly holidays, depending on the establishment’s needs.
- Strong attention to detail in beverage preparation, presentation, and cleanliness.
- Ability to handle cash transactions and operate a point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks, such as preparing drinks and cleaning.
Nice to Have:
- Knowledge of various coffee brewing techniques (e.g., pour-over, French press) and espresso-based drinks.
- Experience in mixology, with a strong understanding of classic and contemporary cocktails.
- Barista or bartending certification or training.
- Experience in high-volume environments, such as busy coffee shops or bars.
- Multilingual abilities, especially in English, to assist international guests.
